Our History
Myra Sokol opened A Total Woman in 1991 after having been a Clinical Lab Technician and Guest Lecturer on Women’s Breast Health Care for many years. She also had experience as a Sales Director for Cameo Bras, and it was while working for Cameo that Myra began to feel there was a real need for a business that catered to women of all shapes and sizes… an undergarment haven, where one didn’t have to worry about feeling shy or 
embarrassed, but rather could be educated, pampered and most importantly, properly fit. Myra opened her first store in Santa Fe Springs, and with her expansive knowledge and passion for her work, the business quickly outgrew this space, prompting the move to our present location in La Mirada, a community in which she raised her family and lived for forty years. Though Myra is no longer with us, her daughter Stephanie carries on her tradition of excellent customer care and satisfaction.

Unlike many Department and Chain Stores, A Total Woman is family-owned and operated, having over twenty years of dedicated experience to help and advise you regarding what looks and works best for you. That’s why, rather than just setting out a number of bras to be tried on, we give consideration to factors such as body shape, breast size, tissue type, height, weight, daily activities, work environment and other important health concerns when helping you choose your bras.
The availability of hundreds of sizes enables us to fit anyone from 28 through 56 band sizes and from “A” to “N” cup sizes… from puberty through post-menopause.
We also offer the finest lingerie in all sizes from petite to 6x… gowns, robes, camisoles, chemise, teddies, hose, garters, panties, peignoir sets, slips, stockings and even comfy pajamas.
Though we find it better to visit our store to ensure the best fit possible, we know you lead busy lives, and thus we do take phone orders and can ship to you directly. Give us a call.
Prosthetics and Post Mastectomy Bras and Swimwear
Prostheses are available in colors, sizes and shapes to fit all needs, and in most cases are reimbursable under many medical insurance plans. If they are not covered, we offer discounts to help defray your cost.
We also carry a large assortment of beautiful post mastectomy bras and swimwear. The options and styles are endless, as we provide varying fabrics, styles and patterns. A Total Woman has many bras with features such as underwire and seamless support, front and back closures, built in forms, side openings for insertion of prostheses and much more. We also have sizes that will accommodate a variety of women, our chief goal, as always, to help you find the best post mastectomy bra that fits you and your needs.
